Do marketers have assets?

This is a great article I found on a blog:
I gave a talk the other day, and at the end a woman sheepishly asked, “when you talk about an asset, what do you mean?” For a marketer, an asset is a tool or a platform, something you can use over and over without using it up. In fact, it’s something that gets better the more you invest. Running an ad is an expense. Building a brand people trust is an asset.
I particularly like the way Seth describes Amazon’s asset. I feel that every company is trying to build a brand with strong assets. Apple has a large fan following because of its trust and the quality of its products. iTunes has managed to change the face of the music industry. Facebook has more than 300 million active users. In this present age it is pertinent to build a brand that can be trusted. A brand that is true to its heart and has core values. This creates assets over a period of time. What are your thoughts?
